PORTISHEAD INFO:
According to this Guardian Article: [click here for link]
The first track starts with some words in Portuguese spoken by “…Claudio Campos, a Capoeira master who teaches in Bristol. But he crackles out of the gloom like a dire warning from an old film score, the kind so beloved of Portishead when they first emerged back in 1994.”
“In English, the Threefold Law goes something like this: ‘Heed and beware the Rule of Three: three times thy acts return to thee’. It’s an old Wiccan precept about reaping what you sow”
Wait for it… JB does the robot!
Meleni Smith & Kevin Powell
Wednesday and Thursday night after work I took pictures of the Color Heritage folks and a new Reggae artist.
Friday night I shot a birthday party for Meleni Smith who is a recording artist. Coincidentally, Kevin Powell was also having a party at the club because he’s running for Congress. Like me, you may remember him as the journalist, hip-hop activist and former MTV Real World cast member from the first season.
Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer
Maybe its because it was the soundtrack to Q-Tip dying in Poetic Justice, or maybe I’m just a dork, or maybe its just that Stevie Wonder can sing, but this song gets me every time I hear it.
I don’t think it can be avoided, I feel some list-making coming on. I will add this song to a “Favorite Songs to Avoid” list. Lauren Hill’s Ex-Factor will also be on that list, and maybe some Mazzy Star.
What other lists should I make? I’d start a rant about the list of top 10 MCs that MTV just put out, but I’d rather you go here and read the fight already in progress. > nah-right.com
